Playback singer and songwriter Arijit Singh recently surprised fans by announcing his decision to retire from taking up new playback singing assignments. However, the singer has now clarified that this does not mean an end to his music or new releases altogether.
Taking to Instagram, Arijit thanked listeners for their unwavering support over the years and shared that he will no longer accept new assignments as a playback vocalist. Calling it a “wonderful journey,” he expressed gratitude for the love he has received throughout his career.
Importantly, Arijit reassured fans that several songs are still on the way. He confirmed that he will complete his pending commitments, which means audiences can expect a few releases this year. “I still have to finish some pending commitments, will finish them. So you might get some releases this year,” he wrote, adding clearly that he will not stop making music.
The singer also shared that he plans to continue learning and creating independently, describing himself as “a small little artist” who remains deeply passionate about good music. His clarification eased concerns among fans who feared a sudden absence of his voice from new releases.
Arijit Singh began his music journey after participating in the reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005 and made his Hindi film debut in 2011 with Phir Mohabbat from Murder 2. Over the years, he has delivered numerous chart-topping songs such as Tum Hi Ho, Binte Dil, and Kesariya, becoming one of the most influential voices in Indian music.
A recipient of multiple honours including two National Film Awards and the Padma Shri in 2025, Arijit’s announcement marks a shift rather than an exit. While new playback assignments may no longer be part of his future, fans can still look forward to upcoming releases and his continued musical journey beyond films.
