Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion to release their new collaboration ‘Bongos’ this Friday

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have released a new song called “Bongos.” Their joint single, their first since 2020’s “WAP,” will be released this Friday, September 8.

“Bongos” will be released in the same year as Cardi B’s previous songs “Hot Shit” and “Up.” It’s been five years since her debut LP Invasion of Privacy was released in 2018. While a second album has yet to be announced, Cardi B has been keeping busy this summer, releasing “Jealousy” with Offset, “Put It on da Floor Again” with Latto, and “Point Me 2” with FendiDa Rappa.

When Cardi B released “WAP” in August 2020, it was not nominated for a Grammy. According to the rapper’s representatives, the tune is being withheld in anticipation of an album-based Grammy campaign in 2021. Cardi had previously given no indication of when her second album would be released. She replied to the leak of claimed (and ultimately phoney) new material at the end of 2022 by posting a short snippet of an undisclosed, unreleased track. “Here are some scraps since yall are STARVING,” she wrote.

Megan Thee Stallion’s sophomore album, Traumazine, was released in August 2022. In the year afterwards, she has hosted Saturday Night Live and appeared as a guest star in the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and the upcoming film Dicks: The Musical.

Tory Lanez was sentenced to ten years in jail last month for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. “As I reflect on the last three years, I see myself as a survivor,” she wrote in an op-ed thereafter. “[This guilty verdict] was a victory for every woman who has ever been shamed, dismissed, and blamed for a violent crime committed against them.”
