Over the past year many production houses have haulted their release . Since the situation of COVID 19 in the city have just started to stabilised there is just a slight chance of Lockdown in the city
Keeping that in mind , Farhan Aktar starrer Toofan is all set to skip its theatrical release and has opted to release the film on Amazon Prime Video. The movie was suppose to hit the theatres in September 2020, but it due to COVID-19, the movie couldn’t be released.
Talking about releasing on OTT platform, a source revealed, “Currently theatres are just opening up, and it will be a while before they and their business returns to normal. Releasing a film in an uncertain atmosphere like this is detrimental to business. But on the other hand, opting for a direct to OTT release, a filmmaker is assured of a certain sum that will cover his initial expense. Given this situation it is obvious why filmmakers still prefer to release their films on OTT platforms over theatres.”
