Taapsee Pannu to feature in sci-fi movie based on ‘aliens’

Taapsee Pannu is keen on venturing into the sci-fi space and is reportedly in talks with filmmakers on a sci-fi movie based on and titled ‘Aliens’.

As actress Taapsee Pannu anticipates the release of her romantic thriller ‘Haseena Dillruba’ on OTT platform Netflix, there are reports trickling in about her next project.

Reportedly, the ‘Thappad’ actress is eager to explore the field of ‘sci-fi’ movies.

She is in talks with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for the sci-fi thriller ‘Do Baaraa’ and has also reportedly bagged another lead-role in a pan-Indian sci-fi film.

A source informed The Times Of India that the movie is tentatively titled ‘Alien’ and will be helmed by Barath Neelakantan (of K-13 fame).

Speaking to a leading daily the source revealed, “It will be a science-fiction film that deals with aliens; in fact, its title will be Alien. But the story will be a totally fresh take on the genre. It will not have any influences of the many Hollywood alien films we have seen so far. The director has come up with a premise that explores how aliens might be in a country like India.”

The source further added that the film is a big budget film, with 10 crores allocated to VFX alone.

Revealing details of the project, the source said, “The film will be shot in multiple languages and will be a proper pan-Indian film. It involves extensive pre-production work as it is a visual effects-heavy film, with the VFX budget alone amounting to over 10 crore. The team has already begun the prep work. The makers are actually trying to keep this a ‘Make in India’ project.”
