Salman Khan’s latest action thriller Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, has made a notable impact at the box office following its theatrical release on March 30. The film, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, opened to a robust response, capitalizing on the actor’s long-standing tradition of Eid releases.
Early estimates suggest that Sikandar has garnered impressive advance bookings, with approximately 2.2 lakh tickets sold across the Hindi belt, contributing to pre-release earnings of around ₹13.53 crore, including blocked seats. The film has secured over 8,000 shows in Hindi across India, setting the stage for a strong opening weekend.
Despite facing competition from Mohanlal’s Empuraan, Sikandar remains poised for a successful run. Khan, acknowledging the clash, reportedly expressed his admiration for Mohanlal and director Prithviraj Sukumaran, suggesting that both films would perform well. He also humorously urged corporations to issue salary increments and bonuses to allow audiences to enjoy multiple releases this season.
The film marks Khan’s first collaboration with Murugadoss and features Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar in key roles. Known for his high-energy action sequences, Khan addressed concerns about performing stunts at this stage in his career, stating that injuries had been a recurring part of his journey.
With strong pre-release figures and a festive release slot, Sikandar is expected to continue its upward trajectory in the coming days, solidifying Khan’s box office dominance. Official figures from trade analysts will provide a clearer picture of its performance in the days ahead.
