Shah Rukh Khan has been the star actor of the year. Having delivered two blockbuster films back to back, SRK is riding high on success. Both of his films Pathaan and Jawan crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark and made historical records.

The actor’s latest film Dunki was released on Thursday, though the film couldn’t create the same enthusiasm. According to industry analyst Sacnilk, Dunki has minted Rs 30 crore on its opening day of release. Dunki has the 7th biggest opening of the year after Jawan, Animal, Pathaan, Tiger 3, Gadar 2 and Adipurush in the year 2023.

Jawan’s revenue on the first day of release was Rs 75 crore while Adipurush attained Rs 36 crore on its opening day. However the latter received immense criticism in the following days leading up to controversies.

Dunki marks SRK’s first collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani. The filmmaker has many such masterpieces under his name such as Sanju, PK, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S and 3 Idiots. Dunki will be able to cover up the record to some extent during the Christmas vacation. However, it won’t be possible to match up to the deck of Jawan and Pathaan.

Though Dunki has the least openings amongst SRK’s films throughout the year, the numbers aren’t that low. The actor’s 2018 release Zero was also released on the same day and earned Rs 19.35 on its first day of release. On the other hand, Dunki has the least openings among Rajkumar Hirani’s other films. His last movie Sanju opened up at Rs 34.75 crore and earned a total of Rs 342 crore.

Dunki is directed by Rajkumar Hirani. It features Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani in key roles.
