A stand-alone sequel to the 2012 blockbuster Oh My God!, OMG 2 stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam Dhar, Govind Namdev and Arun Govil in pivotal roles.
The satirical comedy-drama OMG 2 is actor Akshay Kumar’s attempt at a comeback after a string of critical and financial disasters. Arun Govil, Yami Gautam Dhar, Govind Namdev, and Pankaj Tripathi all play significant roles in the Amit Rai-written and directed movie. The release of OMG 2 is scheduled for August 11.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave the movie a ‘A’ (Adults Only) rating before it was released, without requesting any cuts but instead suggested more than 25 alterations.
In OMG 2, Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva who lives in the pilgrimage centre of Ujjain, relates his experience. His god appears in front of him at a crucial time and helps him overcome the difficulties he encounters.
The movie’s producers debuted a one-minute, 26-second teaser earlier this month, showcasing the world of OMG 2 and introducing important players, including actor Pankaj Tripathi in the role of a devotee and Akshay playing Lord Shiva. A few days ago, they also made a potent song from the movie available. The song “Har Har Mahadev” depicts Akshay Kumar delivering a potent “tandav” as his Lord Shiva avatar. The song features a large group of worshippers dancing to the fast-paced music and praising their god.
Notably, there is a masturbation scene in the movie, which also effectively discusses sex education in schools. Given the changes and the UA certification, the producers have decided to push back the release date since, in their opinion, the CBFC’s suggestions will dilute the film’s core message. The producers, according to a source, “are of the opinion of shifting the release date from August 11 as they want to fight against the changes suggested by the committee and also line up proper promotion of the film.”
