The pandemic has stretched for months now, halting every movie production and closing every theatre. As the government has started releasing unlock guidelines in a phased manner, the mandate for the month of October includes the opening of cinemas at a 50% occupancy. While many movies did take a digital route and announced a release date online, there were a few who waited it out.
Now, Pinkvilla reports that Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, Vijay starrer Master, and Kirara Advani starrer, Indoo ki Jawani will be the first Hollywood, South Indian, and Bollywood films respectively to hit the screens when cinemas are opened. The report quoted an exhibitor saying, “Tenet has been ready, and the team of Master was also prepared to release as soon as the news came. So they are locked. Among the Bollywood films, Nikkhil Advani did a smart thing by not selling his next production venture Indoo Ki Jawaani, to any of the online giants. They aren’t bound by the contract. They just released a song and a few promos but none of it had a mention of the release. Now, with Unlock 5, the Kiara Advani starrer will be the first major film starring an A-list actor that will release in theatres for sure.”
Indoo ki Jawani also features Aditya Seal alongside the “Kabir Singh’ actor. It is a coming-of-age story of a girl who experiences life through misadventures & dating apps.
