Karan Johar recently made a major announcement about his upcoming project, which shall be directed by a debutant filmmaker. The producer has revealed that the movie will be “one of the proudest films of Dharma,” however, he did not release much information about neither the project, nor the filmmaker.
In his note, he also took a subtle jibe at the trolls, who frequently bash KJo for favoring nepotism and promoting star kids. Karan said that around 90 per cent of filmmakers at Dharma Productions are outsiders.
“When I began producing films… in 2003 with Kal Ho Naa Ho – the idea was to empower filmmakers and storytellers…to pay it forward. We got it right…we got it wrong but the intent was always to put out stories and films we believed in… I am so proud to say that our next offering is the 24th debutant filmmaker we have introduced to Hindi cinema! (Trivia for trollers: 90 per cent of them are ‘outsiders’),” he wrote.
KJo added, “I rarely write notes before the release of a film but few films excite me, energise me and inspire me the way the process of this film has. Our collaborative producer and debutant director have been on the journey of this film for 4 years.”
Speaking about the debutant, he mentioned that the budding director has been working on his relentlessly for the past several years, which also included combating with pandemic. “I can say with all my heart is that this film is one of Dharma’s proudest films. I say this as a filmmaker and an audience,” he concluded.
While he did not reveal the details about the films, the fans guessed that he might be talking about Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2.
