Director, producer and actor Karan Johar has managed to gather some prominent personalities of Bollywood for his next directorial film, which will be declared on July 6. The creators of the movie have roped in Bollywood legends Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi to feature his movie, multiple sources said to News18.
The film, which will mark Johar’s return to direction after five years, will star Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that the film also features Jaya Bachchan in a pivotal role. a source close to the development revealed, “Like all Karan Johar directorials, casting plays a key role on this one too and he was clear on having a formidable ensemble on board with actors from across generations. When he narrated the script to Jaya ji, it was an instant yes from her as she loved the character. The film in question is a rooted love story with strong family emotions.”
According to the Pinkvilla sources, Karan wished to create something light for a while now and he has eventually agreed on taking it forward with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. It’s a rom-com film and they have been playing title with multiple titles for the movie. The source said, “The title of the film is centred around the two characters played by Ranveer and Alia. It’s essentially a Prem Kahani of the two leads.” The official announcement will be made on 6th July, which marks the birthday of Ranveer Singh.
