Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was a huge success at the box office when it was released in theatres in 2013. The movie, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Kalki Koechlin, was re-released in theatres last month. However, is there a possibility of a sequel in the future? Kunal Roy Kapur, who played the role of Taran Khanna, husband of Kalki’s character, does not think so.
During an interview with Bollywood Bubble, the actor was asked about the chances of getting a sequel to the film, to which he said, “It is complete. It is already done right? The journeys of those characters are done. They are not needed really.”
The movie showed Kalki’s character, Aditi, ending up marrying Tara, after she realises that her love for Avinash, played by Aditya Roy Kapur, was one sided. Upon being asked if Aditi and Taran would stay together after all these years, Kunal said, “Given the graph of the movie, they would not be in a divorce court. They would definitely be a happily married couple. I can’t tell if she would be happily married with Taran, but he would probably be happy.”
However, it must be noted that while Kunal does not see a possibility to the sequel, Ranbir, during an interaction with fans in 2023, had stated that director Ayan Mukerji had a good story for a follow-up with the same characters.
