Zoya Akhtar directed ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ has completed 10 years of its release, today. In an interview with ETimes, actor Hrithik Roshan was asked about his views on ZNMD co-actor, Farhan Akhtar’s, Dil Chahta Hai, and the comparison that people often do between these two movies.
Hrithik Roshan said, “I remember when DCH came out, I was absolutely stunned because Farhan was my age. I suddenly wanted to know his journey, what books he has read, what influences he has had, what his stimulus is because I was totally shell-shocked with DCH. I felt instantly insignificant when I saw that film. My respect for Farhan went up sky-high.”
Talking about the film, he said, “I was deeply impacted by the film. It had its own language. I think somewhere both Zoya and Farhan are such strong individuals, maybe it’s the journey that they had as children, the parenting that they had, or the influences that they had created such a strong sense of individuality in both of them. That’s absolutely amazing. It is the kind of individuality and strength of character that I want to inculcate in my kids and myself.”
ZNMD, released in 2011, was a film about a road trip with friends. When the actor was asked about friendship-and-road kind of movies, he said, “It’s not easy to write a film that is coming of age, that is about travel and journey. These are moments between human beings who are friends, who talk like friends and relate to each other.. there is nothing larger than life. Today, we have a lot of good minds and writers who can write like this, but back then it was very very rare.”
Along with Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar, the movie starred actors like Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin, Naseeruddin Shah, and Katrina Kaif.
