Farhan Akhtar will soon be back with a new Don. He will certainly have to face the flak for the third movie of his directorial franchise, as Shah Rukh Khan has been replaced from the titular role. Ranveer Singh has stepped in King Khan’s shoes for Don 3. The director has finally spoken about SRK’s exit from the franchise.
A few days back, Farhan disclosed that SRK was not his first choice for the film, but his good friend Hrithik Roshan. Still, when he started to write the movie, only Shah Rukh came to his mind. Hrithik was a complete sport, and he asked Farhan to go ahead with his instinct. Thus, the remake and its sequel had the Pathaan actor.
The gap between the sequel and the recent announcement of Don 3 is quite huge and a lot of things must have changed over the years. Now, as the buzz around the threequel took over the media, it was now that people wanted to see SRK in that villainous role. But all did not happen as Ranveer Singh was announced as the lead of the third film. In a recent conversation with journalist Faye D’Souza, Farhan opened up about SRK’s exit from the project. A snippet of their conversation has been shared on X. Farhan said, “When I first started thinking about doing a ‘Don 3’, obviously, I thought of writing something with Shah Rukh.”
He went on to explain that he could not find the right place to get the story to. He soon realised that he needed younger star, as Don 3 has taken a life of its own self.
