The eagerly anticipated movie Dunki starring Shah Rukh Khan is finally screening in theatres today, and fans are delighted. The premiere of the movie has been welcomed by fans more like a festival. The first screening of the movie took place at 5:55 AM in Mumbai at the Gaiety Galaxy Theatre. However, did you know that Shah Rukh Khan, the superstar, and the fans both find unique meaning in the timing of the screening?
In an NDTV article, a fan was cited discussing the significance of the 5:55 a.m. movie premiere. According to a fan, they have been doing this ever since Pathaan came out because Gaiety used to just have 12 p.m. programmes. But once the film Pathaan opened, they wanted to always “push” themselves a little bit more. As a result, they secured a 9 p.m. showing for the movie, and for SRK’s second release in 2023, they planned a 6 a.m. show.
The fan went on to say that they wanted to extend it even farther without “stretching it too much” and that they chose to have a show at 5:55 a.m. rather than 6 a.m. because they wanted to try something new and go above and beyond. The passionate admirer provided more details of the 5:55 a.m. bond with SRK.
She stated, “It is not just because we wanted to do something different, but also because it is Shah Rukh Khan’s lucky number. His car’s number is also 555. So, we thought, why not integrate that into our show? That is how we came up with the 5.55 am show.”
The fan thanked the Gaiety Galaxy for being “gracious enough” to allow them to perform at 5:55 a.m. “They (Gaiety Galaxy) know that if it is an SRK movie or SRK Universe organising a show, it is bound to go houseful,” she was quoted as adding. They didn’t second-guess themselves. They are aware that Dunki will act similarly, as they witnessed it during Pathaan and Jawan.
