The craze of Anime has already taken over the world whether it is Anime series or  Anime films. And it will not be fair to mention the name of one of the most successful and popular animators Makoto Shinkai, who recently visited India.

Makoto Shinkai, The 50-year-old Animator, Author, Filmmaker and Manga Artist, is the mastermind behind some of the most famous and beloved anime movies such as 5 Centimeters per Second (2007), Your Name(2016), Weathering with You (2019), and his recent megahit anime film Suzume which was released in India on Friday, April 21, 2023.

During his visit to India, Makoto Shinkai attended a press conference where he felt very amazed and happy that plenty of Indians enjoy his work and Anime in general.

When asked about his inspiration behind the movie ‘Suzume’, the filmmaker stated that “The major inspiration behind this story is that 12 years ago in 2011, we had a huge Tsunami in eastern Japan that changed Japan forever. It also changed me and my storytelling forever, because I realized how every human being wants to live a long and happy life. We all want to wake up in the morning, but one day something might happen that could add a full stop to all of this. It made me realize that One day my life might end forever. So it made me wonder what it would entail.”

Talking about Indian Cinema, Shinkai said that he had watched two of SS Rajamouli’s best films, RRR which was released in 2022 and Baahubali. He mentioned that he wants to make a movie like RRR in Japan, where viewers will clap, dance and cheer at the same time.

His Latest movie Suzume revolves around the life of a young girl with the same name, who embarks on a journey to save her country from disaster, as she possesses the power of sensing supernatural forces, unlike others.
