De De Pyaar De 2 has been a highly anticipated film since its announcement. While Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh are scheduled to reunite for the film’s sequel, Anil Kapoor is also expected to have a major role.
According to Pinkvilla, the company has cast Anil Kapoor to play a major role in De De Pyaar De 2. According to the source, “Anil was bowled over by the concept of DDPD 2, and it was an instant yes from him. The humour quotient in De De Pyaar De 2 is said to be a level above the prequel, with an interesting dynamic between Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor.”
The insider went on to say, “The tussle between Kapoor’s character and Ajay Devgn is the standout feature of De De Pyaar De 2. It’s a dynamic that got both excited, as they have never shared an on-screen equation like this before. The sequel follows Ajay and Rakul’s comedic escapades as they strive to win over Rakul’s family.”
According to the story, Anil Kapoor will likely play Rakul’s on-screen father.
Meanwhile, De De Pyaar De 2 is planned for release on May 1, 2025. Luv Films and T Series officials announced on Instagram, “De De Pyaar De 2 will release on 1st May 2025. The film is directed by @anshul3112, produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Luv Ranjan & @gargankur82 and written by @tarun.j.85 & Luv Ranjan.”
Earlier, Pinkvilla reported in an exclusive that the DDPD team had set a release date for De De Pyaar De 2. According to insiders close to the production, De De Pyaar De 2 will hit theatres on May 1, 2025, coinciding with Maharashtra’s holiday and Labour Day.
“It’s a four-day long weekend and is perfect for a film like De De Pyaar De 2, which is a family entertainer appealing to audiences of all age groups. The film will be looking to reap the benefit of the summer vacations too, as that’s when families step out in big numbers to consume content on the big screen,” revealed a close source.
In De De Pyaar De 1, Tabu played the lead role. It stars Ashish (Ajay), a 50-year-old divorcee who falls for 26-year-old Ayesha (Rakul). In the film, Tabu plays Ajay’s ex-wife. The novel brings light on the criticism Ajay receives for falling in love with a girl his children’s age, as well as the complications that come with that.
