
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is under trouble. Reel life son of Gangubai, Babuji Rawji Shah registered a complaint against the filmmakers and Alia Bhatt who is playing the lead. He also filed case against the writer Hussain Zaidi on whose novel ‘The Mafia Queens of Mumbai ‘ the film is based.
Babuji Rawji has alleged that certain portions of The Mafia Queens of Mumbai are defamatory and infringement upon his right to privacy, self-respect and liberty. He sought permanent cessation of printing and circulation of the book.
Babuji’s lawyer, Narendra Dubey said that soon they are going to file complaint against the defendants for defamation. The first hearing was held at Bombay civil court on Tuesday and defendants have to response on the allegations by January 7.
This was Alia Bhatt’s first collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The story of the film revolves around the same named women also known as ‘the madam of a brothel in Kamathipura. The film was supposed to be out in September 2020, but due to the pandemic it was postponed. The film is said to release soon in next year.
