After making a stellar cameo in the blockbuster film Stree 2, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan is reportedly preparing for a new cinematic journey, paying homage to what the 1990s Indian cinema left behind. He is going to star in the much-anticipated war drama Border 2, a sequel to the iconic film Border, which originally depicted the valiant events of the Battle of Longewala.
Sunny Deol dropped an engaging welcome for Varun on Instagram, after he made quite the statement this year in the hit Gadar 2. An über-cool text-based video does all the talking with Varun’s voice, which rings with patriotic fervor: “Dushman ki har goli se, ‘Jai Hind’ bol ke takraata hoon. Jab dharti maa bulaati hai, sab chhod kar aata hoon.” This pulsating dialogue is matched with Sonu Nigam’s soulful number “Aye Guzarane Waali Hawa”, that depicts the emotion of pride and nostalgia amongst its listeners. The feeling portrayed in those lines by Varun, though, is somewhat identical to the role of Suniel Shetty from the same movie Border, suggesting that Varun can be seen playing the role of the son of Sunil’s character.
The star cast of Border 2 includes Sunny Deol, Siddharth Chaturvedi, Vedant Raina, and Aditya Roy Kapur. The film is helmed by Anurag Singh. The first film was based on the Indo-Pak War in 1971; this sequel will be based on the Kargil War of 1999. One of the big conflicts between India and Pakistan was when Pakistani troops infiltrated Indian land in Kargil. India took up tough military action to get almost all those places back.
