The eagerly anticipated Om Raut film Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, was released in theatres on June 16 to much enthusiasm. Both moviegoers and critics have had conflicting opinions about the mythological epic.

Adipurush’s producers came under fire from certain social media users for the film’s subpar visual effects and cringe-worthy dialogue. Additionally, hysterical memes have deluged social media platforms from internet users.

A Twitter user linked Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to a Vanar Sena character from Adipurush hours after the movie’s debut. The user posted a collage with the CM’s image and a movie character still in it.

“Didn’t know Eknath Shinde was in Adipurush,” the person captioned the photo, using the CM’s official Twitter name in the process.

As soon as the tweet gained traction, Thane City Police’s official account noticed it and responded, “Please share your contact no via DM.”

The user had no idea why Thane police reached out to him and he replied, “Why sir what’s the matter?” Later, the official handle of Thane Police wrote, “Please call this number- 9969365100.”

Police are currently conducting a search effort to find the man.

The tweet has received over 3,300 likes and has not yet been deleted. Other users’ reactions to it were conflicting.

While some chastised the individual for making the comparison in their tweet, others claimed that it was done for fun and wasn’t ‘derogatory’.

It should be mentioned that Thane is the hometown of chief minister Eknath Shinde, who sits in the district’s Kopri-Pachpakhadi Assembly constituency.

Adipurush, an Indian mythical epic film based on the Ramayana, was simultaneously filmed in Telugu and Hindi. Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, Rajesh Nair, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar of Retrophiles, as well as Pramod and Vamsi of UV Creations, are the producers.

Fans were observed celebrating the movie’s debut with dhol, firecrackers, and large festivities. Several theatres were packed from the first showing onward.

Prabhas’s supporters built and garlanded cutouts of him dressed as Lord Ram. Additionally, Lord Hanuman was given a unique seat by the film’s creators in the theatres.

The movie is rumoured to have cost more over Rs 500 crore to produce, and according to early projections, its opening-day box office revenue will surpass Rs 50 crore.
