Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna’s iconic movie Anand’s remake announced; Fans beg to drop the idea

‘Anand’ is set for a remake, and fans react by begging the filmmakers not to ruin a classic.

Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s iconic film ‘Anand,’ starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna, is slated for a remake. It was stated earlier today that Sameer Raj Sippy, grandson of the original producer N.C. Sippy, is collaborating on the remake with producer Vikram Khakhar.

The director and cast of the film, which is now in the screenplay stage, have yet to be determined. Producer Vikram Khakhar expressed his delight at the news in a statement, saying, “Digging into our own classics, we will find invaluable gems rather than scouting for stories, internationally or regionally. Placing Anand in the post-Covid era, where we emphasise on the value of life, will enhance the story of Anand.”

Producer Sameer Raj Sippy expressed his delight by saying, “Keeping in mind the sensibilities of the original film and the emotions attached, I felt the current generation needs to be retold many stories that are so relevant today and especially when there is a great appetite for good content.”

Fans of the iconic film began begging the filmmakers to abandon the remake concept soon after the news was publicized on social media. According to one of the comments, “Please don’t spoil the film for us. It’s a classic.” Another comment read, “Why this should be remade btw? It is almost impossible to reenact a few characters i.e. Dilip Saheb as Devdas, Rajesh Khanna Ji as Anand, Amitabh in DON & Dewar, Amjad Khan Saheb as Gabbar Singh, and maybe a couple more characters. These should be preserved.” While some have suggested the names of Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan for the remake.
