Akshay Kumar thanks censor board for approving OMG 2 for August 11 release amid controversy

The ‘A’ certificated OMG 2 movie will be released on August 11 as planned.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approved the Akshay Kumar-starring movie “OMG 2,” and the actor thanked the board members for their confidence. Akshay expressed gratitude for the trust placed in us in a message he made on Instagram on Tuesday. The trailer for the movie will debut on August 2, he added.

OMG 2 has been given the go light by the Central Board of Film Certification with “a few modifications,” and will now be released on August 11 as planned with a “A” certificate. A film with a “A” certificate can be seen in public by adults (age 18+). According to reports, the censor board held the movie hostage for more than two weeks.

“There are no cuts in the film; only a few modifications, which the makers discussed with the censor board members. For a UA certificate, the committee was asking for a lot of cuts. The makers didn’t want to compromise the sanctity of the film. So they chose to go with an Adults certification but keeping the integrity of the film intact and also adhering to and respecting the norms of the censor board,” a source informed PTI.

‘OMG: Oh my God’s’ sequel, ‘OMG 2’, stars Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar. Akshay played the part of Lord Krishna in the first movie. He will be seen acting as Lord Shiva in the new role.

The movie’s producers debuted a one-minute, 26-second teaser last month, showcasing the ‘OMG 2’ world and presenting major players, including actor Pankaj Tripathi in the role of a devotee and Akshay playing Lord Shiva.

It will now be interesting to see how ‘OMG 2’ does at the box office.
