72 Hoorain, the highly awaited film, has been the buzz of the town since its first trailer was released. It is centred on a fascinating narrative of what goes on in the dark world of terrorism and the intensive indoctrination of terrorists, and it stars Pavan Malhotra and Ameer Bashir in main parts.

They are celestial virgins, also known as Houris, who serve as a primary attraction for anyone seeking to enter paradise. They are untouched women who are handed to males as a reward in the afterlife.

Those who gain access to the dwelling will be rewarded with eighty thousand servants and seventy-two virgins. They will also be presented with a dome adorned with pearls, aquamarine, and ruby.

The story, directed and edited by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, is a “tragic reminder of the power of manipulation” and the “urgent need to address the root causes of terrorism.”

“The slow poisoning of the mind by perpetrators turns ordinary individuals into suicide bombers. Let us remember that even the bombers themselves, with families like ours, have fallen victim to the twisted beliefs and brainwashing of terrorist leaders. Trapped in a deadly illusion of 72 virgins, they embark on a path of destruction, ultimately meeting a gruesome fate,” said the director, who is also known for films such as Lahore.

Producer Gulab Singh Tanwar said 72 Hoorain is the perfect story to showcase “how in the name of religion, fictional stories were sold to innocent and ordinary people in order to convert them into brutal terrorists.” Co-producer Ashoke Pandit urged audiences to watch the movie with a “rational mind”.

“The movie will definitely make you ponder upon certain beliefs prevailing in society and how they are a mere figment of imagination. It will make you think about the concepts and ideologies that are not even close to reality in any way, and how they are merely used to brainwash people to mould them into terrorists in the name of jihad,” he added.

Decrying the negative portrayal of Muslims, prominent religious and political leaders in Kashmir said the movie “hurts the sentiments” of the community.

The Central Board of Film Certification denied the film’s trailer censorship. Makers stated that they will now seek assistance from higher authorities. They will also seek that the I&B ministry intervene in the case and question the CBFC’s senior authorities. On June 28, the trailer will be available digitally.

The film premiered in the Indian Panorama section of the 2019 International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, where it won a special mention for the ICFT-UNESCO GANDHI MEDAL. It will be released in theatres on July 7.
