19 years of Devdas: Bhansali Productions, Madhuri Dixit pay tribute

The iconic Bollywood movie, Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, completed 19 years of its release. Bhansali Productions shared a tribute to the lead of the original Devdas (1955) played by Dilip Kumar.

The movie, ‘Devdas’, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was released in the year 2002. Devdas starred actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit Nene. The movie has completed 19 years of its release. Bhansali Productions shared a tribute to the original Devdas, Dilip Kumar.

The Instagram handle of the production house shared a picture of Dilip Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan and wrote ‘As we celebrate 19 years, we salute the Legend. Devdas- Then, now, and forever.’ The post was captioned as “19 years ago this love saga was etched in our hearts and continues to linger with its eternal music, scintillating performances. Here’s an ode to #DilipKumar, just like #Devdas, you will continue to live on… forever! #19YearsOfDevdas @iamsrk @aishwaryaraibachchan_arb @madhuridixitnene @apnabhidu #SanjayLeelaBhansali.”

Actress Madhuri Dixit Nene shared a throwback picture and wrote, “Reminiscing some great and happy memories from the sets of Devdas. Even 19 years later it all feels so fresh! Thank you, Sanjay for sharing these. Will Cherish these forever! Here’s our ode to #DilipKumar, just like #Devdas, you will continue to live on… forever! #19YearsOfDevdas.”

Anchor-actor Siddharth Kannan also tweeted about the movie and wrote about its achievements.

The movie was based on the classic Bengali novel, ‘Devdas’, written by Sarat Chandra Chatterjee. It was the first Indian movie to enter Cannes Film Festival and was India’s first official submission for the Oscars. The movie also had a refreshing music album and was known for its iconic sets.
