SUGA, the famous K-pop rapper from BTS, is currently under investigation for drunk driving after being found under the influence of alcohol last night. JTBC Newsroom has released alleged footage showing someone believed to be SUGA riding a foldable electric scooter on the night of August 6. The report indicates that the scooter was traveling at a maximum speed of 30 km/hr.

South Korean media started covering the incident on August 7, reporting that SUGA is being investigated for DUI. The footage allegedly shows SUGA navigating the scooter between a parked car and a moving car on the road.

According to the report, foldable electric scooters like the one SUGA was riding are classified as personal mobility devices. Riding such a scooter under the influence of alcohol can result in severe penalties, including a revoked driver’s license and fines based on the alcohol level. Specifically, if the scooter’s speed exceeds 30 km/hr and has a high engine capacity, the fines can reach up to 10 million KRW, and imprisonment is also a possibility.

On the night of August 6, around 11:30 PM KST, SUGA was found operating the scooter in Hannam Dong, Yongsan-gu. He reportedly lost his balance and fell while trying to park near his home. A patrolling officer who noticed him smelled alcohol and took him to a nearby police station for further investigation.

Following a breathalyzer test, the Yongsan Police Station reported that SUGA’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit of 0.08%. This level can lead to serious consequences, including the revocation of his driver’s license.
