Song Hye Kyo, the acclaimed South Korean actress who wowed audiences with her powerful performance in the revenge thriller The Glory, is set to take on a new and intriguing role. Her next project, Dark Nuns, is an upcoming occult film that marks a significant departure from her previous work in melodramas and romance.

In an interview with Elle Korea released on August 14, 2024, Song Hye Kyo shared insights into why she chose Dark Nuns as her next role. Despite her personal lack of enthusiasm for the occult or horror genres, Song Hye Kyo revealed that her mother is a fan of these genres. This early exposure made her somewhat familiar with them, even though they are not her first choice.

When the opportunity to star in Dark Nuns—a spin-off of Kang Dong Won’s film The Priests—arose, she was intrigued by the challenge it presented. She mentioned that seeing herself on screen “fighting for someone” made her reflect positively on her performance, and she is excited about discovering a new side of herself through this project.
