Seo Ye Ji has issued a formal apology over a year after she was embroiled in a scandal about her previous connection with Kim Jung Hyun.
Last year, Seo Ye Ji received backlash after text exchanges between the actress and her then-boyfriend Kim Jung Hyun surfaced on social media.
According to the allegation, Seo Ye Ji asked Kim Jung Hyun to request that the screenplay for his 2018 drama “Time,” in which Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun also appeared, be changed to exclude “physical contact” between him and the female protagonist.
Although Seo Ye Ji’s agency issued an official statement in response to these allegations, the actress herself did not discuss the issue at the time, despite withdrawing from projects such as the OCN drama “Island.”
Seo Ye Ji issued an official apology for the controversy on February 27, more than ten months after this news was originally surfaced.
She said in her statement, “First, I sincerely apologize for the fact that I’m conveying my feelings so late through these written words. Seeing all of the reproach and the many things that have been said about me, I have been taking time to reflect on myself up until now. I would like to sincerely apologize for making many people uncomfortable due to my shortcomings. Once again, I sincerely bow my head and apologize for the fact that I have disappointed you greatly.”
She went on to say, “All of this stemmed from my immaturity, and I will work hard to behave more carefully in the future and show you a more mature version of myself.”
Apart from these charges, Seo Ye Ji’s school classmates accused her of bullying and extortion.
Seo Ye Ji has gained international acclaim for her roles in hugely acclaimed dramas such as Lawless Lawyer and It’s Okay To Not Be Okay. The actress is now rehearsing for her next drama, ‘Eve,’ and was recently seen at a script-reading session for the film. Now, Seo Ye Ji is ready to return to the small screen in the upcoming tvN drama “Eve” after being out of the limelight for over a year.
