Here’s what you to know about BLACKPINK’s Jisoo’s upcoming projects Influenza and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has been making waves not just as a K-pop superstar but also as an emerging actress. Before she made her official acting debut, she had already made a mark in the industry with appearances in music videos for artists like Lee Hi, Sulhyun, Bobby, and Epik High. She also had a guest spot in the 2015 drama The Producers and appeared in commercials alongside celebrities like Lee Min Ho. Jisoo’s official acting career took off in 2021 with her role in Snowdrop.

 

Jisoo’s Upcoming Acting Projects

Influenza

Influenza is a fantasy thriller starring Jisoo alongside Park Jung Min and Kim Joon Han. In this film, Jisoo plays Young Ju, a rookie navigating her new life and grappling with her emotions, especially after her boyfriend breaks up with her due to his military enlistment. Her quest to reconnect with him takes a dark turn when she encounters a zombie outbreak. The film is based on Han Sang Woon’s novel Influenza and is directed by Yoon Sung Hyun, known for works like Time to Hunt and Bleak Night. The script was penned by Ji Ho Jin and Han Jin Won, who have impressive resumes including Parasite and A Shop for Killers. On July 22, Jisoo shared pictures from the set, announcing that filming for Influenza is complete.

 

Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint

Another highly anticipated project for Jisoo is Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, set to release in 2025. This film features a star-studded cast including Lee Min Ho, Ahn Hyo Seop, Chae Soo Bin, Nana, Shin Seung Ho, and Jisoo. Adapted from the popular web novel Omniscient Reader by Sing N Song, the story follows Dokja, an office worker who loves reading the web novel Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse. When the novel’s world becomes real, Dokja uses his knowledge of the story to prevent the impending doom. Directed by Kim Byung Woo, known for Take Point and The Terror Live, this film promises to be an exciting watch. Lee Min Ho confirmed on May 29 that filming for this project has wrapped.

As a member of BLACKPINK, Jisoo has gained international fame. She ventured into a solo career in March 2023 with her album ME and its lead single “Flower.” On February 22, she launched her own label, BLISOO, with the aim of exploring various genres and sharing her unique creative vision.
