BTS’ SUGA has recently been caught up in a controversy involving drinking and driving, which has stirred up significant backlash from fans and the public. Here’s what happened and the current situation:

On August 6, 2024, SUGA was stopped by the police while riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol. Yongsan Police Station charged him with violating the Road Traffic Act due to drunk driving, revoked his license, and imposed a fine.

SUGA admitted to the offense, stating that he was unaware of the specific laws regarding this matter. He expressed his regret, apologized to his fans for his irresponsible behavior, and vowed to make improvements.

SUGA, who enlisted in the South Korean military as a public service worker on September 22, 2023, is halfway through his service and is expected to be discharged sometime in 2025. Before his enlistment, he released his debut solo album on April 21, 2023, under his producer name, August D.
