Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Season 2 has been officially confirmed with a teaser released by the anime’s staff. It’s set to premiere in January 2025, though the exact release date hasn’t been announced yet. Before that, a four-episode sequel will come out in October 2024. The anime is based on the manga by Iro and Aida, known collectively as Aidalro.
As of August 2022, the manga had over 8 million copies in circulation. The first season was produced by Studio Lerche, and the new season will continue from where the last one left off. A live-action adaptation is also in the works.
At the Kamome Gakuen Summer Festival Event in Tokyo, the staff shared a new promotional video, a logo, and a trailer for the sequel. While the exact release date is still pending, it’s confirmed that episodes will air every Sunday on 28 TBS-affiliated channels in Japan at 4:30 pm JST. The teaser showed Nene summoning Hanako and them investigating more supernatural mysteries. Most of the original cast will be back.
For Season 2, Studio Lerche remains in charge of production, with Yohei Fukui taking over as director from Masaomi Andō. Expect to hear Megumi Ogata, Akari Kitō, and Shōya Chiba reprising their roles as Hanako, Nene Yashiro, and Kou Minamoto, respectively.
The series is inspired by the Japanese urban legend of Hanako-san, a ghost who haunts school bathrooms. In the anime, Nene summons Hanako, who turns out to be a boy. They form a bond and explore the supernatural world together. Stay tuned for more updates on *Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun* Season 2!
