Hagoromo Otsutsuki, widely known as the Sage of Six Paths in the *Naruto* series, is a key figure in the ninja world. He’s credited with founding ninshū, the spiritual and martial practice that laid the foundation for the entire ninja world. As a major figure, he’s also considered the ancestor of all shinobi.
Is Hagoromo Otsutsuki a good guy in Naruto?
Hagoromo’s backstory is quite dramatic. He was the son of Princess Kaguya, who consumed the forbidden Chakra Fruit from the God Tree. This gave her immense power, but when she realized her sons could also wield chakra, she became enraged. Eventually, Hagoromo and his twin brother, Hamura, discovered their mother’s true nature. Kaguya merged with the God Tree to become the Ten-Tails and tried to reclaim her chakra. The battle between her and her sons was long and destructive, but they managed to defeat her, ending her Infinite Tsukuyomi and bringing peace to the world.
Hagoromo’s life took another significant turn when he had two sons, Indra and Asura. While Indra was a prodigy with extraordinary skills, Asura was less gifted but more dedicated. Hagoromo sent them on separate missions to find a successor. Indra completed his task quickly, but Asura took longer, returning with people from a village he had saved and taught the ways of ninshū. Surprisingly, Hagoromo chose Asura as his successor, which angered Indra. Indra vowed to destroy ninshū and was a major source of conflict in the story.
In his final moments, Hagoromo created a special tablet meant to guide future generations, specifically those with the Rinnegan, to overcome hatred and conflict. His influence extends to Naruto and Sasuke, whom he guides as the modern-day embodiments of Indra and Asura. Despite his noble intentions, some of Hagoromo’s decisions, especially regarding Indra, had lasting impacts on the world and the ongoing conflicts in the series.
