The 14th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) commenced on August 10 with a glamorous inauguration press conference attended by prominent Bollywood figures. This cinematic gala, dedicated to India’s film legacy, began with style, featuring alluring film screenings, interactive sessions, and insightful discussions. The event saw the presence of well-known personalities like Karan Johar, Kartik Aaryan, Mrunal Thakur, and Vijay Varma. Notable films such as Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, Rani Mukerji’s Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, and the romantic movie Sita Ramam starring Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur were among the esteemed awardees at this year’s IFFM.
The IFFM winners’ roster encompasses a diverse array of talents and categories. Notable honorees include “Sita Ramam” for Best Film and “Agra” for Best Indie Film, while Mohit Agarwal clinched the Best Performance in Film (MALE) award for “Agra.” Rani Mukerji’s compelling portrayal in “Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway” earned her the Best Performance in a Film (FEMALE) accolade. “Pathaan” secured the People’s Choice Award, reaffirming its popularity. In the realm of series, Vijay Varma’s exceptional act in “Dahaad” garnered him the Best Performance (MALE) title, while Rajshri Deshpande’s compelling role in “Trial By Fire” earned her the Best Performance (FEMALE) recognition. Karan Johar was lauded for his 25-year cinematic journey, Kartik Aaryan was honored as the Rising Global Superstar of Indian Cinema, and Mrunal Thakur received the Diversity in Cinema Award.
