Last year, Jawan director Atlee, Shahid Kapoor, and director pair Raj & DK received honours for their work. At the event, Shah Rukh embraced Rani with a hug and a kiss. Fans, however, believed that Kareena disregarded Shahid at the ceremony.
Jawan, released in September of last year, grossed over ₹1000 crore worldwide. Atlee directed the film, which stars Shah Rukh, Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Deepika Padukone, and Sanjay Dutt (in extended cameo appearances).
Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was one of the biggest hits of 2023. However, it was also chastised for its portrayal of misogyny. The film’s main cast included Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. Animal is about a dysfunctional father-son relationship, and Ranbir plays Rannvijay Singh, who seeks revenge after his father is assassinated. The film grossed over ₹800 crore at the box office.
