Following his unexpected visit to The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night, Zayn Malik thrilled his fans.

A clip of Jimmy Fallon’s opening monologue, in which the ex-member of One Direction declares, “This is going to be one of our best shows,. I mean, we have a…”.

Cheers broke out from the audience as the Dusk Till Dawn hitmaker entered the stage, grinning and carrying a mug and a message. Malik, wearing an elegant all-black outfit, approached Fallon’s desk silently. Taking a moment to play his new song, “What I Am,” on Fallon’s laptop, he handed the note to Fallon, waved to the audience, and left.

Fallon opened the message with a look of confusion and curiosity on his face, reading, “Jimmy, look to your right for my album.”

Reaching for the album poster, he read on, “My new single, What I Am, is out this Friday off my upcoming album Room Under The Stairs, available May 17th.”

The comedian said, “Hope you’ll check it out. I will, Zayn, everybody!”

Malik announced on Instagram a few hours prior that his next album, Room Under the Stair, would be released on May 17. This announcement coincided with his performance on The Tonight Show.
