Zac Efron recently shared his excitement about reuniting with Nicole Kidman on screen for their upcoming romantic comedy, A Family Affair. Reflecting on their collaboration, Efron expressed admiration for Kidman and humorously referenced their previous film together, The Paperboy, where his character was infatuated with hers. Now, in A Family Affair, they revisit their on-screen romance in a more comedic light, completing the story they began in their earlier movie.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Efron described the experience of working with Kidman as “amazing.” He playfully noted the continuity from The Paperboy, joking that they were “picking up where we left off,” albeit in a lighter and more humorous context. Efron emphasized that their on-screen chemistry felt natural and genuine, comparing Kidman’s presence to being “hypnotized.”

Director Richard Lagravenese also praised the pair’s chemistry, affirming that their connection was palpable from the moment they reunited on set. Lagravenese highlighted the importance of chemistry in film and expressed satisfaction with how Kidman and Efron seamlessly clicked on screen once again.

In a separate interview with People magazine, Efron disclosed that he felt comfortable filming intimate scenes with Kidman in A Family Affair due to their previous collaboration on The Paperboy. He described their working relationship as one of trust and mutual respect, noting that Kidman personally reached out to him to join the project, which he found incredibly flattering and affirming.

A Family Affair, directed by Richard Lagravenese, revolves around a storyline where Joey King’s character, Zara Ford, discovers her mother (Kidman) is romantically involved with Efron’s character, a self-absorbed Hollywood star. The film promises to blend romance with comedy and will be available for streaming on Netflix starting June 28, 2024.
