Deadpool & Wolverine is a blast from start to finish. It’s packed with action, laughs, and it significantly expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). One of the most thrilling aspects of the movie is its plethora of cameos and Easter eggs from across the Marvel multiverse.

The film features several notable cameos from non-MCU Marvel movies, including Wesley Snipes as Blade, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Dafne Keen as X-23, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, Aaron Stanford as Pyro, Tyler Mane as Sabretooth, and Jason Flemyng as Azazel.

But perhaps the most exciting cameo of all is Channing Tatum’s appearance as Gambit—a role he had long been rumored to play. Tatum’s Gambit is part of a team, including Deadpool, Wolverine, Elektra, Blade, and X-23, fighting against Cassandra Nova’s forces in the Void, a mysterious and unsettling dimension.

So, what makes Channing Tatum’s Gambit stand out?

Even though Tatum had never played Gambit before, his appearance brings a wave of nostalgia. He was originally set to portray Gambit in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine but was replaced by Taylor Kitsch due to budget issues. Tatum was also slated to star in his own Gambit film, which never materialized because of various setbacks. Seeing him finally take on the role in Deadpool & Wolverine is a brilliant piece of fan service, making his cameo even more enjoyable.

Tatum delivers an exceptional portrayal of Gambit. His costume and look are spot-on, especially compared to Kitsch’s version. The iconic Gambit headband makes its live-action debut, and Tatum nails the character’s distinctive Cajun accent. His blend of English with occasional French phrases captures Gambit’s comic book persona perfectly. Deadpool even jokes about Tatum’s accent, calling it a “Minions dialect,” which adds a humorous touch.

Gambit’s powers are showcased in an impressive way. His ability to generate and control kinetic energy, especially his signature playing card attack, is executed brilliantly. Watching him use his powers in the battle against Cassandra Nova’s forces is a highlight, with the visual effects creating a dynamic and engaging fight scene.

Overall, Tatum’s Gambit is a standout moment in the film, and it might even reignite calls for a solo Gambit movie starring him. If you’re looking for an additional reason to watch Deadpool & Wolverine (as if you needed one), Tatum’s Gambit is definitely worth it.
