Owen Wilson’s daughter, Lyla Aranya Wilson, was born in 2018, making her six years old. Reports indicate that Wilson shares his daughter with his ex-girlfriend Varunie Vongsvirates, whom he dated on and off for five years. When Vongsvirates announced her pregnancy in 2018, Wilson demanded a DNA test to confirm paternity.
According to US Weekly, Wilson marked “none” when asked if he wanted visitation rights, expressing uncertainty about being the parent. The DNA test confirmed Wilson as Lyla’s father after her birth in 2018. Although he did not seek visitation rights, he agreed to pay $25,000 a month in child support, plus a one-time payment of $70,000 for a labor coach, night nurse, and Vongsvirates’ legal fees.
The arrangement included a stipulation against making disparaging comments about one another. However, Vongsvirates has publicly mentioned Wilson several times. In a 2019 interview with the Daily Mail, she pleaded with Wilson to “see your daughter, she’s incredible, you’re really missing out, and she looks just like you.”
Vongsvirates also revealed that while Wilson “helps financially,” he has yet to meet Lyla, despite playing fatherly roles in multiple films. “Wilson is playing a father in his new movie, and he’s never met his own daughter,” Vongsvirates said. Despite the estrangement, Lyla seems to be living a happy life, with Vongsvirates frequently posting pictures of her on social media.
People magazine reported that Lyla weighed 6 lbs., 13 oz., and measured 21 inches at birth. Her Thai middle name honors Vongsvirates’ father’s heritage. Wilson often discusses his two sons in interviews, including on an episode of Ellen in 2017, but he has yet to publicly mention Lyla.
