The Acolyte has wrapped up its first season on Disney Plus, and despite some mid-season bumps, its strong start and clear passion for the Star Wars universe might just earn it a second season.
What Stood Out: The show’s vibrant sci-fi action and detailed sets were definitely highlights, making it visually engaging. However, some storylines could have been better developed. Even so, there were some standout moments in the narrative, such as Mae’s intense interaction with Master Torbin in the second episode.
Who is Master Torbin? Played by Dean-Charles Chapman from Game of Thrones, Master Torbin is a Jedi Master who spent a decade in deep meditation, protected by a powerful Force field. This created a challenge for Mae, who was targeting him.
Mae eventually returned to Torbin’s temple, armed with poison and a compelling argument instead of weapons. During their confrontation, Torbin confessed that his mission on Brendok—Mae’s home planet—wasn’t as noble as he initially believed. The Jedi team, which included Torbin, Sol, Indara, and Kelnacca, had unintentionally caused chaos in Mae and Osha’s coven, leading to its self-destruction. Torbin’s regret came too late, and he only began to grapple with his actions through Mae’s forceful presence.
