Erica Ash, the talented actress and comedian known for her roles on MADtv, in Scary Movie V, and in Outlaw Johnny Black, has sadly passed away at the age of 47 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Her mother, Diann Ash, shared the news, stating that Erica passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends. Diann Ash described Erica as a remarkable woman and gifted entertainer who made a significant impact with her humor and lively spirit. She expressed gratitude for the support they received and requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or a breast cancer charity of choice, to honor Erica’s legacy and help others fighting cancer.

 

What we know about Erica Ash

Growing up in a military family, Erica Ash experienced a diverse upbringing due to frequent relocations. Initially pursuing a career in medicine at Emory University, her passion for performing arts led her to shift her focus. She began her career in theater, performing in Broadway productions like The Lion King, and continued her work with both Broadway and touring companies.

Ash’s television career took off with her role on MADtv during its 13th and 14th seasons. She later appeared on The Big Gay Sketch Show, showcasing her comedic talent. Ash transitioned to dramatic roles with notable performances in Real Husbands of Hollywood, where she played Bridgette Hart, and the STARZ drama Survivor’s Remorse, portraying M-Chuck Calloway.

Despite her battle with cancer, Ash remained positive and continued working on projects she was passionate about. In 2019, she starred in the Netflix comedy The Weekend alongside DeWanda Wise and Tone Bell. More recently, she appeared in the HBO limited series The Undoing, featuring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant.

Erica Ash will be remembered for the joy, laughter, and light she brought into the lives of many. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on through the countless people she touched. Rest in power, Erica.
