After eight years of marriage to her actor husband Richard Lawson, Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles has decided to end her second union.Wednesday, Tina hurried to the court and filed for divorce.
The date of separation is listed as Tuesday, and Tina is using the standard excuse of irreconcilable differences.Before they had children together, Tina and Richard were married back in April of 2015.
Needless to say, Tina has two children—Beyonce and Solange—from her first marriage to Mathew Knowles.In the documents, Tina requests that the court stop having the authority to grant Richard or her spousal maintenance.
When Tina married Richard, she reportedly changed her name to Celestine Lawson. Now, she wants to get her name changed back to Celestine Knowles.
Regarding the separation of Tina and Richard, Beyoncé has remained silent.
Tina hasn’t frequently posted pictures of Richard on her social media accounts in recent months, which has fueled rumours about their relationship. Richard, however, has shown his love and admiration for Tina in previous tweets as the couple has been seen celebrating life milestones. After her first marriage to Mathew Knowles, which lasted from 1980 to 2011, during which time they had daughters Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, Tina wed Richard. Richard also previously wed actor Denise Gordy, with whom he had a daughter named Bianca Lawson and a son named Ricky Lawson from 1978 to 1989.
