The fans of Survival of the Thickest are in for a treat as Netflix has handed out a second season renewal for the comedy drama series, which stars Michelle Buteau, who is also credited as an executive producer.
The actress shared the news of Tuesday during an appearance on Today.
The confirmation regarding the upcoming season comes after more than six months since the launch of season one. The eight-episode series, which is based on Buteau’s book of essays, currently has an impressive 85 per cent of score among the critics and has gained 89 per cent ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. The series has been recipient of seven NAACP Awards nominations including four for Buteau.
The plot of the series revolves around Mavis, played by Buteau, who has recently turned single and has build her lift as a struggling stylist. Danielle Sanchez-Witzel co-created the show and seerves as showrunner on the series from A24. Lina Mendoza, Ravi Nandan, and Alli Reich for A24 and Anne Hong of Mosiac are executive producers.
