Stephen Colbert regrets fueling conspiracy theories after Kate Middleton’s absence from the public before she announced her cancer diagnosis.
“There’s a standard that I try to hold myself to, and that is I do not make light of somebody else’s tragedy,” said Stephen during Monday episode.
“Far too many of us know that any cancer diagnosis of any kind is harrowing for the patient and for their family,” he continued. “Though I’m sure they don’t need it from me, I and everyone here at ‘The Late Show’ would like to extend out well-wishes and heartfelt hop that her recovery is swift and thorough.”

While the host showed remorse, many of the users pointed out on X, that he did not apologise for his remark.
Earlier, before the cancer announcement was made public, Stephen had brought back the rumors of Prince Williams alleged affair with Lady Rose Hanbury from 2019. He had joked and alleged that the reason why the princess of Wales has been keeping a low profile is due to her husband.
