Rodrigo Reyes has acknowledged the tensions surrounding Craig Conover within the Southern Charm cast, revealing that several members find Conover’s demeanor intimidating. Speaking exclusively to Us Weekly at the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards on March 27, Reyes admitted to raising his hand when host Andy Cohen asked who was “scared” of Conover during the season 10 reunion taping.
“Craig wants things his way,” Reyes, 40, explained, adding that while he understands Conover’s strong-willed nature, it can sometimes come across as domineering. Despite this, Reyes insisted he gets along with everyone on the show and prefers a more relaxed approach to conflict.
Austen Kroll, 37, openly admitted in the season 10 reunion trailer that he was “terrified” of Conover, joking that he feared being reprimanded for stepping out of line. Multiple cast members, including Leva Bonaparte, Jarret “JT” Thomas, and Venita Aspen, also acknowledged feeling uneasy around Conover at times.
Reyes highlighted Conover’s intense focus on his growing business, Sewing Down South, as a key factor in his interactions with the cast. He suggested that Conover’s ambition sometimes prevents him from being fully present for his friends. The dynamic between Conover and Kroll shifted after Conover revealed his struggles with alcohol addiction, which had impacted their friendship.
Additionally, Conover’s strong opinions on Shep Rose’s relationship with Sienna Evans sparked friction within the group. Following his split from Paige DeSorbo in November 2024, Reyes expressed hope that Conover would reconnect with the cast and prioritize camaraderie. “Now that Craig’s single, I hope he spends more time with his friends,” Reyes said.
