Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly eager to mend the rift with Prince William and Kate Middleton, as tensions between the brothers and their wives persist since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal duties in 2020.
Royal reporter Richard Eden has noted that the Sussexes are “desperate” to heal the ongoing rift. Various sources suggest that both couples are weary of the negative comments exchanged and are considering reconciliation. Tom Quinn, a royal author, highlighted Harry’s nostalgia for his relationship with Kate Middleton, describing it as a “warm, uncomplicated” bond that he misses deeply. Quinn added that Harry feels torn between loyalty to Meghan and regret over the deterioration of his relationship with Kate, which he views as a significant loss after his mother’s death.
Phil Dampier, a royal expert, noted that the slimmed-down monarchy has left Prince William and Kate to shoulder many of the duties that Prince Harry and Meghan could have managed if they had remained as working royals. Dampier pointed out the frustration of the current working royals, who are carrying a heavier burden as they wait for Prince George to mature and take on more responsibilities in about a decade.
Despite these sentiments, there has been no official communication from either side regarding a potential reconciliation. Since 2023, Prince Harry and Meghan have been residing in California with their children, and the ongoing tension reflects the broader challenges facing the royal family as they navigate these strained relationships.
