Piers Morgan is once again stirring the pot with his critique of Joe Biden, this time taking aim at the president’s recent national address. Morgan has labeled Biden’s speech as “sad [and] uninspiring,” despite the positive reception it received from many, including former President Barack Obama.

In his address, Biden explained his decision to withdraw from the presidential race. For many, it was a touching moment where Biden emphasized putting the country’s needs before his own ambitions and handing over the reins to a new generation. This decision came after significant pressure from his party following a challenging debate performance.

Morgan, however, chose to be a contrarian and dismissed Biden’s speech, criticizing it as “disingenuous.” He argued that Biden’s claim of passing the torch to Kamala Harris was insincere and suggested that Biden’s withdrawal was due to sabotage from within his own party. Morgan even pointed fingers at prominent Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and Chuck Schumer, as well as George Clooney, who is not involved in political decision-making.

Morgan’s accusations seem to ignore the broader context. The calls for Biden to step down were driven more by concerns about his potential loss to Trump in the upcoming election rather than any intentional effort to undermine his presidency. Many Democrats, including Obama, Pete Buttigieg, and Gavin Newsom, have praised Biden and expressed gratitude for his service following his decision to withdraw.

Given Morgan’s long-standing friendship with Trump and his tendency to provoke controversy, his comments are hardly surprising. He previously criticized Biden as “mentally unfit” and called for him to step down after their debate in June. With Biden now doing just that, Morgan’s critique seems like part of his ongoing need to provoke debate, regardless of whether it’s warranted.

It’s likely this won’t be the last we hear from Morgan on the subject, even though his opinions seem to be largely unwelcome.
