John Cena recently gave an update on the release of Season 2 of Peacemaker while attending the premiere of his new film Jackpot! at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. Cena mentioned that he anticipates the new season could arrive sometime in 2025.
Peacemaker, which first premiered in early 2022 as a spin-off from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, enjoyed significant success and became the most-watched original series on Max on its debut day. Even with Gunn’s new role as co-head of DC Studios and a revamped slate of projects, Peacemaker remains part of DC’s future plans, with its second season confirmed.
Gunn, who is also working on the upcoming Superman movie, has indicated that Peacemaker Season 2 will follow after the Superman film’s release in July 2025. Although Gunn will be directing fewer episodes this season—three compared to six in the first—he’s committed to both projects.
Filming for Peacemaker Season 2 is expected to start soon, following the completion of Superman‘s filming in late July 2024. If production starts promptly, the new season might be ready by early 2025, but to allow a gap between the releases, it’s likely that Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere between September and November 2025.
For now, fans can catch up on the first season of Peacemaker streaming on Max. No official production or release dates have been set for Season 2 yet.
