Outlander: Blood of My Blood: Prequel series gets cast on board and production begins

The prequel series to Outlander has found its lead actors and is finally heading into production.

The filming for Outlander: Blood Of My Blood, a series that will focus on the parents of the lead characters in the main series. Earlier, it was confirmed by Starz that series will be focusing on Jamie’s, played by Sam Heughan, parents. The premium network has now confirmed that it will also include Claire’s, played by Caitriona Balfe, parents.

Harriet Slater of Pennyworth and Jamie Roy of Lifetime’s Your Boyfriend Is Mine will play Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, who will ultimately become parents to Jamie in the 18th century Scotland. Meanwhile, Hermione Corfield of We Hunt Together and Jeremy Irvine of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, will play Claire’s parents – Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, the story of whose unfolds in World War I era England.

Matthew B. Roberts, who is serving as the showrunner for Outlander, will be extending his role to the prequel series as well. He said, “We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples.” He added that the relationship timeline will explore universal theme and transcend time periods.

Speaking of the main series, the second half of the main series will release later this year.
