The 96th Academy Awards was held on the 10th of March at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Emma Stone made headlines as she won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in the film Poor Things. However, her big moment turned into a nightmare as the actress suffered a wardrobe malfunction while accepting the award.
The award for Best Actress was announced by Michelle Yeoh. When Emma heard her name getting called out, she was in complete shock. The actress kept touching the back of her dress while hugging Mark Ruffalo and Yorgos Lanthimos. Even while going on the stage, she said something about her dress breaking up. It’s when Jessica Lange and Charlize Theron came to her rescue.
While giving her acceptance speech, Emma Stone stated, “My dress is broken; I think it happened during I am Just Ken, I am pretty sure.” The actress further stated, “The other night I was panicking, as you can kind of see happens a lot, that maybe something like this could happen.”

Emma Stone was in tough competition with other nominees such as Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon, Sandra Huller for Anatomy of a Fall, Annette Bening for Nyad and Carey Mulligan for Maestro. This is the second time Emma has been awarded the Oscar. Earlier she won it in the same category for La La Land.
