Michael Lerner died on April 8, 2023, according to Sam’s statement, but no other details have been given at this time. The nephew’s Instagram message for pictures of the seasoned actor read: “We lost a legend last night.”

It’s challenging to adequately convey my uncle Michael’s importance to me or how intelligent he was. Because of his stories, I’ve always been fascinated with acting and inspired by it.

He was the coolest, most assured, and talented guy, and the fact that he was a member of my family will always make me feel special, Sam continued.

Everyone who knew him was aware of his best kind of insanity. I’m very grateful that I got to spend so much time with him, and we’re all fortunate that we may keep on admiring his work indefinitely.

“RIP Michael, enjoy your endless Cuban cigars, comfortable chairs, and endless movie marathon,” he said in closing. Public leaders, celebrities, and actors expressed their condolences in great numbers in his post’s comment area.

On June 22, 1941, Lerner was born in Brooklyn, New York, and over the course of his varied and fascinating career, he worked on movies like X-Men: Days of Future Past, Glee, Godzilla, and Elf.

After receiving a scholarship to the University of California, Berkeley, he attended Brooklyn College to study acting. Then Lerner received a Fulbright Scholarship to study theatre at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

While residing in England, he shared an apartment with Japanese performer Yoko Ono and English actor John Lennon. He apparently loved Cuban cigars, playing poker, and gathering rare books.
