The Married at First Sight season 18 reunion aims to clarify speculation surrounding a major relationship twist and address ongoing rumors about the matchmaking process.
According to Us Weekly, in an exclusive sneak peek of the March 18 episode, Michelle is seen questioning the show’s experts—Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Cal Roberson, and Dr. Pia Goff—about whether they had any prior knowledge of David and Madison’s unexpected connection. Pastor Cal reportedly assured her that they had “no idea at all,” while Dr. Pia added that they were completely unaware.
During season 18, Michelle was initially paired with David, while Madison was matched with Allen. However, as filming progressed, David and Madison developed feelings for each other. In part one of the reunion, which aired on March 11, the couple confirmed they were still together a year later and had moved in together. Us Weekly quoted Madison saying, “He makes me feel like the most special person in the world without even trying.”
The reunion also addressed rumors suggesting that David and Madison were originally meant to be paired together but were switched at the last minute. Michelle directly brought up the speculation, prompting Pastor Cal to dismiss it as “complete BS.” Dr. Pia explained that casting decisions were made based on participant preferences and acknowledged that race was a factor in the process.
Pastor Cal further emphasized that Married at First Sight was not a platform for experimentation, stating that individuals with no prior experience dating outside their stated preferences would not be matched that way.
Married at First Sight, produced by Kinetic Content, airs on Lifetime Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
