According to sources from Deadline, Manny Jacinto is currently in negotiations to join Disney’s highly anticipated sequel, Freaky Friday 2. As of now, specific details about Jacinto’s role and the storyline of the film have not yet been disclosed.
Set for a summer release, the movie is slated to be filmed in Los Angeles. There’s buzz that Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan may reprise their roles as the mother-daughter duo who famously swap bodies. Additionally, Julia Butters is rumored to be in talks for a role in the film.
Nisha Ganatra, known for directing “Late Night,” will be at the helm of Freaky Friday 2, with the script being developed by Jordan Weiss. Andrew Gunn, who produced the original film, will produce alongside Kristin Burr. The decision on whether the sequel will debut in theaters or stream on platforms is yet to be finalized.
Freaky Friday is based on the book by Mary Rodgers and tells the story of Tess Coleman (played by Curtis), a strict psychiatrist, and her rebellious teenage daughter Anna (played by Lohan). After a mystical encounter involving a fortune cookie at a Chinese restaurant, their bodies are magically swapped. Tess finds herself in Anna’s body, and vice versa, leading to a day where they experience each other’s lives firsthand.
Manny Jacinto has made a name for himself in both film and television, most notably for his role in Michael Schur’s acclaimed NBC comedy “The Good Place,” which earned numerous Emmy nominations.
